Hi (Cage) is a convenience-store robber who meets and falls in love with police officer Ed (Hunter) through his repeated trips to jail. They decide to get married and Hi goes straight. Life is perfect until they discover that Ed can't have children and they can't adopt because of Hi's criminal past. Just when it looks like they'll be childless forever, a famous furniture-store owner named Nathan Arizona makes the news when his wife gives birth to quintuplets. Hi and Ed decide that the Arizonas have more babies than they can handle, so they kidnap one of them to raise as their own. Before long they have to deal with a bounty hunter sent by Arizona and two buddies of Hi's who have just broken out of jail (Goodman and Forsythe), who would like to get their hands on the reward for returning the baby.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Everything that happens in this movie is funny. All of the characters are funny. Every line is funny. The way every line is said is funny. Even the music is funny. The best thing about this movie is the fact that the humor isn't either too crude or too dry, it's just hilarious. The whole thing is quirky and off-beat and has a kind of cartoony quality that just makes it brilliant. The entire cast all have perfect timing and give outstanding performances. The Coen brothers do a fantastic job. What I am trying to say is that if you haven't seen this movie, go out and rent it. Today. Right now. If you have seen this movie, go rent it anyway. I'm sure you'll agree with me. | |||||
